Founded in 1983 as a joint venture company between The Sanwa Bank, Ltd. Japan and PT. Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk. with the name of PT. Sari Usaha Leasing. The Company is considered as one of the pioneer in the Indonesian financing industry after obtaining business license from Minister of Finance by virtue of His decree : KEP-465/KM.11/1983. Later that year changed its name to PT. Sanwa - BRI Leasing. In 1991, the Company was given the operating license to run a multi-finance company and was renamed as PT. Sanwa - BRI Finance.The operating license has been amended several times, latest by the decree of Minister of Finance : KEP-045/KM.102/2008 dated 18 March 2008.
Along with the merger activities taken by The Sanwa Bank, Ltd. Japan into UFJ Bank Limited Japan, the name of the Company was changed to PT. UFJ - BRI Finance in 2002. The new Company’s name gives the Company greater growth opportunities with the stronger business and financial support. Once again, the merger activities taken placed by its major shareholder, UFJ Bank Limited Japan to merge into The Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ, Ltd. Japan, made the Company to read just its name into PT. BTMU - BRI Finance in 2008. In September 30th 2016, PT. Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk and Yayasan Kesejahteraan Pekerja Bank Rakyat Indonesia bought the shares ownership of the Company from the Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ Ltd, Japan. In line with the shares transfer, the name of the Company changes from PT. BTMU-BRI Finance to PT. BRI Multifinance Indonesia. It offers the company as part of integrated financial services and largest financial network in Indonesia to strengthen its position in the financing industry in Indonesia.
The company focuses in the financing for investment, working capital and multipurpose for the various industries and type of assets. Geographically, the company provides the financial services throughout Indonesia with no single concentration in any particular brand, type, area or industry. Currently, the company has its head office located in Jakarta, 4 branches in Surabaya, Bandung, Samarinda and Medan, and 3 marketing offices: West Jakarta, Bekasi and Balikpapan.
Implemantation of Good Corporate Governance Principles
In engaging its business activity, the Company committed to comply with the laws and regulations as well as prioritizing moral and ethic principles, also conducting business practice in fair and healthy way.
The Company has already implemented Good Corporate Governance principles in accordance with the Regulation of the Financial Services Authority number: 30/POJK.05/2014 regarding Good Corporate Governance For Finance Companies (“Tata Kelola Perusahaan Yang Baik Bagi Perusahaan Pembiayaan”) consists of following aspects: Transparency, Accountability, Responsibility, Independency, and Fairness.
The Company also launched Good Corporate Governance Guidelines as a working guidance and foundation for all lines and functions within the Company.
The Company is supported by the units who are taking care of Compliance, Risk Management as well as Internal Audit.
